Chain adjuster
The "snail" cam type adjusters on my '03 XT600 seem very coarse. Each click takes up loads of slack, so I find it difficult to get the tension where I want it. Does anyone know of a type I can fit to give more control?

chain tension adjustment
no, not as long you as you don't change the swingarm.
it is possible to use the xtz660 swingarm with some mods. in my opinion the mechanism is quit o.k. because it's very easy to handle. chain adjustment is a matter of a minute or so. if you have the choise between to positions always choose the position which will give more play. unsufficient play may cause tear of gearbox / bearings. best regards klaus xt600.de / tech. dep. |
You're right Klaus. I'll live with it. - simple and strong.
I was getting a bit uptight about difficulties keeping tension right - then I found that the spring link was coming apart. All sorted now, thanks. |
On a similiar subject the bolt holding the caliper that you have to loosen to adjust the chain what size is it neither a 13 or 14 mm seem to fit, is the bike metric or not? (1991 3TB) I don't want to force it and round the head with the wrong size socket!

I can't recall what size the caliper adjustment bolt is off the top of my head though... (i don't have my bike home at the moment to check for you either). |

Hi there dan and james...
The size for the calliper is a C19 Gedore socket combination(14), or in Imperial I think it is a 19/32...... Hope that helps..... Busy with my rear disk and Pads now, as steel on steel is never a good thing....Sigh!!!:oops2: Regards Bryan |
