Chain tension?
Hi, can anyone advise on the correct drive chain tension on an xt, only I got an advisory on mot that it was a bit slack, I was told 'three fingers between swing arm & chain behind slider' but when I do that (one more click on the cams) it is dead tight when I sit on the bike! My instinct is to back it off as it was, dose anyone have any thoughts? Thanks.

Tell them its a offroad bike not only for street use! Yes its correct sit on the bike to get most extension of the chain, if its to thight you can snap it if jumping.

Thanks, it's good to hear! I've just fitted a security bolt to hold rear tyre on rim at lower psi, I had to laugh at the amount of lead added when I got it balanced!

My thoughts would be to use another MOT station !! :thumbup1: |

The wheels a million miles from being round but didn't have any issues before security bolt. |
I had the same experience at an MOT a couple of years ago. I ignored it and have had the test done elsewhere since with no comment on the chain.
I would have thought that an experienced bike tester would know the differences between road bikes and trail bikes - clearly not! |
