Changing the bars
I have an XT600e vintage 97 with 1" bars, all the renthal bars and other aftermarket bars seem to be 7/8"-22mm or 1 1/8" I have read several accounts here of changing bars, where can I get 1" bars or how do I use 7/8" bars without having to change levers twist grip assemblies etc???
Thanks in advance jimmy |
Hi. All of the handlebars I know the actual shape of the handlebar near the ends are all the same size so the original handlebar controls will fit... There are some really cool handlebars out there but it all depends on how deep your pockets are :thumbup1:

Ups, forgot to tell you about the Tomaselli handlebars look good and are cheap to...by the way, 7/8" is almost 1" so check if they actually fit on the 7/8th...it's just a 3 millimeter difference....... :)

'just' 3mm

Engineering you say.. I'm in engeneering ;P I said that because the clips that hold the bar might not be fully tightened therefore he'll just need a gap of 1.5mm on each side! now do you see why I said that Martyn? ;P
have fun :) |

Lets face it, we all want to live to ride for as long as possible, so lets try to keep it safe, eh? |

Jimmy, are you sure they are exactly 1"?
Martyn, have you had a 1" handlebar? hehe..Even 0.00000000001 difference would be awesome for some things but lets face it, only in theory we can get exact "measures"... :detective: Only thing for sure jimmy, if it is that hard finding a handlebar with that size, in my opinion, you might want to think in getting something of this kind: I wanna get one of these for my 1990 XT600E because mine are kinda bad..... These are for a Honda CR125 but will surely fit my XT because it only has one hole for mounts like those... |
