cold starting

HI,my xt in winter can stand temperatures untill 3 celsius degrees, but with lower temperatures the engine can't start, what advices can you give me?the air filter is good,so i think it would be good to remove the carburators and check the cold starter i don't know, any suggestions?

thanks

Buen dia Santiago,

if the choke works ok, adjust the idle mixture screw a bit [screw it out a few turns]. You don't have to remove or open the carb for that. Success and let us know.

thanks fred,i'll check that,so, you're saying to give more fuel to the engine with the pilot screw,is that right?,now it has 3 and a half turns out,is it to much?

thanks

I think it is not too much, but just try to screw it out and see how it reacts. What kind of exhaust and air filter do you have and exactly what motorbike?

Hi Fred, absolutely standard air filter and exhaust,my yamaha is xt e 1998,3tb engine,
with just 2 1/2 turns out, in the morning at 3ÂșC,the bike starts with choke and then i pull out the choke and then,i used the throttle a bit to maintain a steady 1500 + - 100 rpm, and the engine started to die,so i unscrewed the pilot screw one turn and now it's ok.

i'll check the carbies anyway with colder weather. thanks mate
