Could anyone with a Hepco & becker rack do me a favour please?

Hello chaps,

Could someone with a H&B pannier rack on their XT600E please measure the width of the bike at the widest point with the racks fitted?

I have a very narrow gap to fit my bike through to get it around the back of the house so want to make sure I can get it through OK.

Thank you kindly in advance bier

Hi
Our 1991 XT600e has H&B pannier rails fitted. We bought the rails in 2000.

At the widest point, the pannier rails measure 45cm. However, the fitting kit relocates the rear indicators a bit further back and a bit further out, so these are now52.5 cm wide (but they are a bit flexible).

On our model bike with the steel pillion peg brackets, these brackets appear to be the widest part of the bike (excluding handlebars).

Hope this helps. Can post a photo if you'd find it useful. Let me know.

Cheers
Mark

Thank you Mark, I really appreciate your help.

A photo would be great if you have one already on your computer, otherwise don't go out and take a picture.

Thanks again.

Now that's what I call a quick response. :thumbup1:

Well done Mark :innocent: for taking the time and care to help the "man of cloth" out. bier

Goes to prove the worth of this excellent forum and reinforces the idea we "XT nuts" enjoy helping one another out when it's needed.

Let me know if you have any problems viewing the photo and I'll try something else.

...sorry, that didn't seem to work. I don't know what I'm doing with photos on the HUBB. I've put the photo in a Picasa album. Here's a link to that:

Fingers crossed - hope it works this time.

Mark,
recommend you don't get into the hammock whilst it's attached to the handlebars!:innocent:

And as I'm a tight so and so, do you think, is it possible to make one of these racks one self? Of course one would require the dimensions.

Sorry to highjack the thread here reverend, and others.

But surely worth thinking on?

Socks
