CRD Bash plate

Hello all,

I've got a 2003 XT that I'm slowly getting ready for the TAT and have recently picked up a second hand CRD bash plate.

I've read on here about Dave Lambeth selling modified versions with larger bolts for fitting. Is it essential to drill and tap the mounting holes in the frame or can I just use bolts that will fit as standard? Obviously I don't want the bash plate falling off but I'm a bit wary of drilling and tapping my frame.

Thanks

You CAN use the standard size M6 bolts with washers but they are a bit small for the job.

Lambeth will give you some M8 bolts. Drilling and tapping the frame is a simple job if you have a decent drill a 4.8mm HSS drill bit and an M8 tap.

If you haven't got the gear or have no experience with such work (although its not difficult), a local engineering shop shouldn't want more than 15 mins of labour for the job.
