Digital speedometer
Hello fellow bikers.
Unfortunately after a fight with the ground my TTR's speedo is stuck on 100mph, after taking the whole unit apart and a good fiddle I've come to the realisation the speedometer itself is at fault and I'm unsure if it's possible to open as it looks crimped on. I've been looking at trailtech endurance or vapor, are these any good? Any other recommendations? What are you using? For reference I've got a 2003 TTR 600 (one of the last kick start only version). Apparently I can connect it to the speedo light cable. Many thanks ride safe! |
I have used a Trail Tech Vapor on my DR for the last 6 years, good piece of kit, nice to have engine temp and a tach hooked up on it, if I broke this one, I would buy and fit another one again.

My speedometer broke on my DR 650 somewhere in Peru last year so I purchased and mounted bicycle digital speedo that cost me 10 bucks ...so at list I could count my km for oil change....:D

Another vote for the trailtech vapour. I have had 2 on 2 seperate bikes. Never had any issues.

Hey mate. Keep us updated. I've got a TTR too and I'd like to know how the mounting goes, as I've been wanting to get a TrailTech too.

https://scontent-lhr3-1.xx.fbcdn.net...aa&oe=58B5E03F Works pretty good! You need the raptor700 tachometer cable for the TT Vapour so you can read the rpm properly without any complications! As you can see in the pictures, I did buy the shroud for the light indicators! Vando ;) |

The coil wrap method is not the most accurate..
And if you get the kit with the Raptor 700 rpm cable you just need to plug it to the pickup coil and get perfect readings! (Because the raptor 700 pickup coil is the exact same one as the XT600E) ;) |
I've just fitted a Koso CRB guage to my XT and everything apart from the rev counter has been easy to install and set up. That could be down to my installation though - I've connected it to the coil which the instructions say is the least reliable method. I'm going to try figure out how to attach it to the pick up sensor which apparently gives a better signal. Apart from this I would highly recommend it.
