Fitting a GSXR 1000 exhaust to an xt600e?
Anyone have any info on how to do this? I have seen that from the header pipes you need to knock up some sort of connector pipe.
The reason I ask is because I have a 2001 gixxer can in the garage, and it will be alot lighter than the original can. Would I have to adjust the carb setting or anything else too? |
I believe the exhaust on the TBE is an actual stressed member of the frame. Why it's so heavy. Keeping mine stock.

I use KN filter, Yoshimura RS3, Dynojet kit stage 2 and it runs perfect. And i tell the sound its amazing!! Its not like a terrible noice, its nice XT sound normal riding, and heavy shit when you give full throttle. I dont know if RS3 can be compared to stock from your bike, you can see the pipe from you have to weld.

The XT shown above has an aftermarket Yoshimura pipe on it (made in USA).
It's a LOT more free flowing than your GSXR can and it's lighter too. But Yoshi pipes like that are generally obnoxiously noisy ... at least they are as sold in USA ... if in Norway they probably insist on some sort of restrictor ... to keep it quiet, so an exercise in futility there. Guys in USA run these and they are REALLY annoying. :funmeterno: Hundreds of DR650 riders are using that same GSXR can on post '97 bikes. I have one too, not fitted yet. No jetting changes required at all on the DR650 ... and probably the same with your XT. K&N filters are fine ... if you never go off road. Off road in serious dust K&N can let a lot of dust into your carb. I much prefer an oiled, foam filter. I like Twin-Air brand. I believe your XT has a Mid Pipe ... and the standard one will not work with the GSXR can. A good muffler shop or fabricator can knock up a mid pipe in a couple hours. You will then need to fit an adaptor to mount can to your sub frame. All very straight forward stuff for a good fabricator. The Mid pipe for the GSXR can for the DR650 is $225 usd. Many of the GSXR's cans used are Titanium. Not sure about your 2001 can, but could well be a Ti can. Very well made piece, NO REPACKING ever required. Will last forever ... and only just a bit louder than your stock exhaust. Win Win ... but not a free mod. $$$ What do you gain? No power change and a bit lost weight (Maybe a kg. or two at most over stock) ... and a much nicer sound. :D :scooter: |

Seems like I wouldnt save too much money then, the can I have is the same as in those pictures.....
Seems like it would be better for me to just get a ready made system to save some weight and a better sounds (I dont want to have a stupid exhaust, just a nicer sound, solid and lighter) |

Kawasaki kxf 450 silencer is also a relatively easy fit too...the one on mines got a dented end cap..which meant the previous owner had to go and buy a carbon and titanium thing for a million quid nearly..much to my benefit....

Here's another one...

Hi .I found i got a more power on my 600e when I fitted a yz 426 can I had to make the in-between pipe, and a bracket to support the seat . but it was worth it :thumbup1: I,m not familiar with the size of the inside pipe in the GSXr can but if its at least the size of the pipe after your header pipes join into one then you will be flying bier singles need a bigger pipe through the can than four cylinders of the same cc

Thinking about this again as I have been offered a gixxer 600 exhaust and headers for free, after fitting a new exhaust to a friends bike.....
There a difference to the 600 to the 1000? Maybe I can make a link pipe out of the headers? |
not sure but its the standard pipe off an 04 gsxr.
