fuel capacity

1990 xt 600 what is the fuel capacity? Thanks . Also how mph before you hit reserve? I hit about 102 miles before need to switch and that is around town highway stop and go. My latest fill up was 3.2 gallon at 127.6 miles and there was some gas left but alittle. It seems that there are different capacities on these bikes thanks again

You should be going farther than that on a tankfull. I get 50mpg +/- 3-4 depending on driver. With my 2.7ish gal '88 tanks I go 105-115miles before I have to refill, usually never get to reserve. Maybe you have a tall petcock inlet and more reserve, or I have a short one ( Don't any of you go there !!!:nono: ):blushing:

What is the fuel capacity on a 90 xt 600. What mileage go you go when you hit reserve? Thanks

I am dissatisfied with the 240 mile range of my Enfield with a supposedly 14.5 litre tank, although I have never managed to get more than 12 litres in it.
One day I might fork out for a bigger tank as I need a 300 mile range.

I think he was asking about my XT tanks, which are the older kick start US models. They have 2.7 gal capacity approx. with .5gal reserve. If he is in the US I think the E models have a 3.7gal tank +.5-.75 reserve.

I don't wait till I run out going down the road and try to get the switch turned to reserve before have to stop in traffic. I usually just fill up after 80-90 miles , there is no good reason to just run the tank empty unless your on a trip and simply can't fill any earlier, or want to run all the fuel out to clean the inside or change petcock ect....

Tanks jj. :thumbup1: You are right but I have 2 xt' s one 600 and one 350 and 2 harleys keeping track becomesd a issue especially with the xts I ride them the most right now. Also I tiought the first post meant 151miles instead of 15L thanks again

I am thinking that the petcock tube might be higher because I hit the reaserve early and still have a lot of gas left. Also the bike heasitates a lot on reaserve too. Imight pull the petcock off to see what hight they are they might be a after market that of been changed at some time.

I own a 1990 Xt600 and average 50mpg on a 2.9 gallon tank. I usually hit reserve around 120 to 130 miles.

Yes this is correct, i missread the manual thinking 13 + 2, its 13 total and 2L reserve. The 15L came on the next model from 95. That explain the short mileage you get.
