head removal
 

Right,as per my previous post about casings ,I decided to remove the head from my tenere and damn,can,t get the rocker cover off so looks like I ll have to remove the engine after all.

So the plan now is to remove the engine from my tenere and see if I can swap the casings and make an electric start for it.I have most of the bits so will strip it down,replace worn gears,swap casings and rebuid it....well thats the plan.

If not I will try to repair the original cracked casing,replace the worn gears and rebuid........

Try to keep it all in one thread much like a rebuild thread(like it is lol)so you don't loose track of what you've already written :P

Did you take out the bolt underneath the tappet inspection plate (inlet)?

yep,did that one too......had the whole tappet cover loose but just could not get it past that top brace.

I,m now going to remove the engine and try to make one good electric start engine from the two I,ve got which will mean swapping the gear teeth over to get a good set as 3rd gear has gone on one engine and 5th on the other.

Hi there,
you have to remove the brackets on the front frame and the bolt that runs through under the gearbox then loosen the swingarm bolt and tilt the whole motot forward until it hits the front frame down tube. You can then get enough room to remove the tappet cover.

So finished the shower and pulled the engine and sadly the casings are different so I will overhaul the gearbox and skim the head, rebuild and sell on as I really wanted an electric start ......or I can dye fleuro penetrant it to find all the cracks and give it to the guys in the engine for welding then rebuild and see how it goes.......:clap:
