Help - Stops when wet.
Hey,
I have a ´96 4PT which has problems starting when its been sat in the rain. A guy at a Yahama dealership in the UK told me that this was a known problem on this particular model and told me to seal the coil with mastic. Admitadelly, I havn´t done this because the coil itself looks fairly well protected and the connections insignficant but i have sealed in the spark plug with non setting blue hylomar. However, the problem continues. Before you say why don´t you seal the coil connections, I am going to, but am currently on the road in Spain without sealant etc. Will go to a Yamaha dealer tomorrow but if anyone has heard of or knows what this may be then please post. Basically the bike runs really well when dry but if I´ve left it out in the rain it either won´t start (but turns over) or when it does, keeps suddenly cutting out until its dried out a bit and then no probs. Sounds like coil? Any ideas? Many thanks in advance, Finian ------------------ |
After Yamaha chagning the HT lead in Bilbao I still had problems on the road and it kept cutting out. Found a Ducati dealer in Vittoria who reckoned that the problem was due to the Acerbis tank which doesn´t provide the same protection as the stock fuel tank and fairing for the spark plug. He has made a protector out of inner tube. Seems to work so far but will find out for sure tomorrow.
