I have a 2003 xt600e and I have just done 23000 Kms. The only work the bike has needed was a new speedo cable (and that was covered under warranty).

Hi
My 1987 1VJ XT600 Tenere has about 3770264 kms, one top end rebuild, one 5 gear and crankshaft (due to a very unhelpfull mechanic who snapped the end of the crank off while removing the rotor for me) one set of clutch and plates, 3 set rear wheel bearings one front set. Biggest problem i ever had was the standerd rear shocks were no good for long distance touring. A great bike, covered in a blanket and locked in my brothers shed having a rest, but when i get back to the UK out she'll come again. Skip |
Nearly 4 million km on an XT? Good effort mate!

Not record breaking (unless it's been around) at 71000Km but i enjoy watching UK bikers looking at my odo and assuming its miles.

3770264 kms ???
hello guys,
sorry I dont believe Skip and his nearly 4000000kms. just calculate how much riding that is a day for 20 years - more than 500kms a day every day for 20 years ??? I have traveled on an 1vj around the world for 6,5 years. the bike has now, I dont use it anymore, 270.000km. it had two major overhauls at yamaha factories with many parts replaced. greetings from cape town mika |
0 to many
Ha Ha sorry guys slipped an extra 0 in by mistake should of read 377264 thats from new. i can't belive you to took the time to calculate kms to years mika, sod the bike doing 4 million kms can you imagaine how i'd look...... I only put about 218000 on myself but i new one of the past owners and new he put on over 100000 with no problems, i think with the XT600's if you keep on top of the maintance and don't abuse the motor to much they do last a long time even the early ones, you only have to look on this site to see how many are still out there and on the road and where ever you travel you will always bump into some one on an XT600 of one type or another. See you on the road Skip
