how much for a xt600e?

i have being looking at a few yamaha xt600e's to buy for a rtw world trip i have seen some on biketrader for like £2500 for a 2003 with 6000 miles, is that a good price? because i think for a extra £1000 you could have a ktm adventure 640 or for cheaper you could have a honda xr650r. and im not sure what to get?

I paid £1800 for a 2003 with 5k miles in very good nick back in January.

Keep an eye on eBay and move fast to do a deal.

£1100 is what ive just paid for a very low mileage 93 its all about what they have done off/on road modified or not,what you want or need as well look for what suits you and your budget.

They are worth what some one is prepared to pay but £600 will get you one in need of some love and £2000 may get you this I wanted it but I would only turn it into a £600 bike after taking it 20000 miles:oops2:

yea suppose it is about how much offroading and how much abuse the bike has taken but i would like quite a good condition one to go round the world on. as TheBaldReverend said i'll keep a eye out for one and sooner or later the right one will come up.

are you both happy you bought xt's or do you ever think maybe i should of got . . . . . . .?

I spent months researching bikes and i also work on bikes for a living, money is a big factor as always but also parts availability, carnets, etc etc i wanted off road ability at a cheap price and although im a mechanic simplicity is good when miles from no where. As for what its like, i get it on Saturday so ill let you know, hope the months of research has not been wasted........

I saw plenty of reasonably priced XTs on their website when I was researching for mine last year. But having looked there just now, the prices seem to have shot up along with the average mileage. If you can wait, then leave it until winter when prices will drop again. This is not a good time of year to be a buyer.
I got mine from a private ad in the TRF magazine and I won't reveal the price or mileage for my 2004 (2007 reg) model as you'll only get jealous! :clap:

Ignore the ones from dealers on Autotrader...

I used to work for the group who owns most of those dealers.. RIP OFF ain't the word.

I paid £1800 for a MINT 2003 XT600E with only 1500 miles on it in 2007.

I would never pay more than £1500 for an XT600 now. They often sell for around a grand for a late 90's model.
