I Think My XT600E is dead it is no more it has shuffled of this mortal coil it has left the stage and joined the bleeding choir mate it is an ex XT it has cessed to be it wouldn’t vroom if you put 40,000 volts through it its bleeding DEAD MATE

It was all going so well my £700 E-Bay XT600E has stood up to every thing I could throw at it off roading a Motocross track day (that was fun) a couple of long distance trials but it was all to good to be true
My Sons DRZ400 had thrown all its dolly’s out of the pram and wouldn’t go (bolt fell out of rota and chewed up the stator windings)
So use my XT I said there he was 60 mph along the Tolpuddle bypass and a funny noise and the rear wheel stops going round quick in with the clutch rolls a bit then stops again Son drags bike to side of road and it out with the trailer

I have had a quick look and the engine had all the oil in the sump far too much and there wasn’t any in the tank and both the engine and the gearbox are solid and wont turn

It will have to wait until after Xmas for a strip down has anyone here had the same thing?
Any thoughts as to the Damage?
And can you all ask Santa for a new engine for me

Still it’s not all bad my lad says I can use his DRZ400 in the Exeter Trial
If I fix it first and pay for the bits cos he’s skint He’s a good lad isn’t he

XT's don't die they just get tatty and look like they should!!!

Check inside the clutch cover - sounds like your clutch has dropped off
It happened to me once when I was 19 on my RD125LC. Id'd rebuilt the engine and not bent over a tab washer - won't do that again!!!

Good luck - don't give up on it either!!!

hmm seems to me that oil pump stopped to work... no oil in top barrel.. kaboom piston cracked. And probably also valves cam shaft.

Maybe "only" this... sure you have to open to know the answer.:frown:

bob in the time i took to write on here you could have taken 1 if not both of the side covers off and narrowed it down a lot more:innocent:

and post pics of what you find :thumbup1:

Bit of a long shot I know but if you decide to break the bike and sell it rather than getting another engine then ill buy the frame off you!!:thumbup1:

Is the clutch cover off yet?

I could have re-built it by now!!!

And guys - you're all starting to look like vultures circling round BOB's XT - it ain't dead yet!!!
