Just got rid of a CR250 I've had for the last year so I could buy a 94 XT600 from my neighbor. Found the site. Very cool. Will be around for a bit I guess. Looks like a world wide membership round here. Just wanted to say hey!

Hej Jens - I am coming your way soon! I'll be visiting some friends near Århus next month. As it's a quick trip, I'll be on my Honda rather than the Yam, so no interest for this forum, but it will be my first trip outside the UK, so it's a start. I've tried learning some Danish, but it is bloody hard! I managed to get as far as 'hej', so maybe that will be OK.

How long a ride is it for ya?

If you get there on a tuesday, theres some guy's driving around in the mud and rocks at the harbour. They do it every tuesday evening afaik :)

and hang onto your bike, chain it to something strong, and back it up with something stronger.

These are strong reliable bikes with peculiar manners.
Let them teach you. The basis behind these bikes is to drag you and whatever you choose to call your gear wherever you want whatever the condition.

When it breaks down, you will be easily able to fix it, and it will not cost you an arm and a leg.
Once youve done what you want to do, it will drag you and your gear back home. Then it will be ready to do it again the following day, you on the other hand will be asleep, dreaming of wherever your just were!


Look out for worn carb rubbers.
Resist the temptation to use too high a gear, particularly 5th, rev it, and try to stay above 3500rpm.
Beware of the torque settings on all the bolts. Do not over tighten.
Try to get your hands on a large tank.
Learn about the throttle settings when the second carb kicks in, and try to stay under this it saves money.

The main thing that goes wrong with these bikes is they get stolen... there are too many 20+ year old bikes still flogging their guts out for kicks and giggles, so youre onto a winner, albeit with 20 year old technology, because it really hasnt changed since 1984!

Whatever you do with your bike some lunatic has done more, gone further, carried more, and dropped it harder.
