Indicator always on | xj900 diversion

Hi I just got xj900 diversion for my birthday a few days ago. It worked when I got it but now right indicator (front and rear) is on all the time. Don’t blink just is constantly on. Even after I turn the bike off with the kill switch and take keys out.
It drains my battery and now I can’t use it as its always on. When I try to use it, nothing happens, just constantly on. Left is working fine.
Any ideas what’s the problem? Where do I need to start?

Look where you worked on it.

Have you put a part (a relay may be?) it the wrong location - swapped one relay into anthers location?

In the mean time .. when you have this kind of problem .. disconnect the battery so it does not go flat. Only connect the battery while your working in the problem.

Possibly a short in the wiring for the indicators: the right hand side is on constantly so the short is in that wiring or it could be in the turn switch on the left hand handlebar.

Nice bikes, simple air cooled, wet sump, old school carburettors and robust shaft drive for the highway riding.

Stuck relay? contacts welded together? try tapping the relay (hard).

Mezo.

Hence,my money is on a short circuit in the wiring.

There is only one flasher relay so it operates both the LHS and the RHS indicators and it is located behind the panel on the LHS of the bike frame if you want to check it.

There is also a hazard flasher relay if the bike is a 1997 model or thereafter, with the hazard flashing switch built into the LHS switch module on the handlebars (as with 4 wheelers, it brings on all 4 indicators).
The hazard flasher relay is located right next to the standard flasher relay, by the way.
