INtroduction and a quick question for you all
 

Hey there I picked up a very decent looking XT600 with 12K on her. She is strictly going to be used for the commute. Anyway Im currently getting her ready for the road and I believe the Voltage Regulator is on the Fritz. I think the battery , though looking fairly new is on the fritz and might have taken the regulator out as well . THe battery only shows two volts and when I put a charger on it , nothing , no current draw, so I suspect one of the cells is open circuit. Very unusual
ANyway I have a line on a NOS Electrex Yamaha regulator/ rectifier that claims to be only good for an 90-92 XT. It has yellow wires as opposed to the white ones on the current regulator. Can I use this regulator/rectifier instead. I believe the stator is ok as the bike will run well enough ( still got to go through the carb ) , starts on first or second kick and I do get light output . However the main light is dull but when I turn on the indicator or hit the brake it lights up a lot better , thinking thats a combination of bad grounding and a bad regulator. This is a fun bike . I'm really liking the Gas mileage even compared to my ZRX1200. I bought the XT to avoid the dreaded square tire syndrome on the commute. Tires for an XT are a LOT cheaper then those for a ZRX .

:welcome: Nice looking bike, cant help with you're problem but I hope you love youre bike and then want to use it for more exciting things than the run to the daily grind. The XT is such a capable machine.

If you can try using some green lanes they make the commute fun.:mchappy:
