Kick start and starter motor
 

Hi my kick start spins my starter motor when I kick it a few times what could cause this? It's an xt600 tenre

starter clutch
 

Its the starter clutch, its worn out and needs to be replaced. Mine went after about 220.000kms. mika

Thanks for your reply I have another engine which seems fine I can just swap um carnt i? It's located in the engine casing isn't it

I've seens them bind a bit on bikes thats stood for some time. See if it ill free up first, they usually just about outlast the bike.

Thanks Jens will give it a try. If I start the bike and it spins sstater will it damage it

Nope, not really... But shut it down and try again.
