Mirrors

My XTe decided to have a little nap and bent the rear brake and broke the right mirror. What have you used (cheap) for a replacement? Thanks

xtrock 29 Jul 2014 20:13

10mm mirror for Yamaha XT 125 225 250 350 500 550 600 660 750 Mirrors Spiegel | eBay

I would personally avoid cheap crappy mirrors off Ebay.

I've bought too many.. And I've always be disappointed. They flap around, move in the wind, rattle etc. Generally useless.

You get what you pay for. Best replacement are genuine factory equipment even if it's off a different make/model of bike.

Dont have the same experience, bought some cheap ones and they worked fine all summer no problems!

Provick 29 Jul 2014 20:36

Thanks, I think I will. Pricey though -- :lol2:

Get second hand ones.... EBay is great for that. Any Yamaha ones should do with a 10mm thread.

Note, Yamaha have a left ha d thread on one of the mirrors. Can't remember which side.

steveloomis 29 Jul 2014 22:13

Easy to remember which is left handed, the right side is left, left is right. Kind of a contradiction

I have used these, ebay item number 120977812929 they are chrome plated, heavy duty and good mirror image. Solid construction. Ship from Taiwan.

Check it out

Thanks Steve but I'll probably blind the other riders.

When are you coming out here? (I'm in CO Springs)

steveloomis 29 Jul 2014 22:31

We are going to Ouray on Sept 6th via La Veta pass then on towards Gunnison and west, then south. We are staying in a cabin north of Ouray. Probably be 5 or 6 of us.

Nice. Did Georgia Pass - Breckenridge - Boreas Pass couple of weeks ago.
Did Otto Mears - Bonanza - Sargents Mesa last weekend.

Drop me a line on adv (Proveick) before you get here, might be able to do a day with you folks.

It must be terrible to live so close to so many riding places. We are 10 hrs plus away from the closest riding area around Deckers. I prefer Ouray and Taylor park areas plus Moab.

I bought a pair of these "Emgo" mirrors and they are crap. the mirror lens are loose in the plastic, so they vibrate.

These are a decent mirror, they're made so you can flip them inward to tuck them in for riding offroad and preventing damage. Doubletake Mirror

RAM mount mirrors. That's bloody genius...

Jens Eskildsen 31 Jul 2014 12:31

They get pretty pricey because of all the mounting hardware you need besides the mirror. And they require extra room on the handlebars because of the ram mounts.

The reviews are great tho, they seem to take a beating. Some complaints have been made about the ram mount beeing a bit loose. People have solved this by painting the ball with bedliner or simular. It might nut be an issue, just a heads up :)
