In need of some advise, I have had mega bad luck
 

hello there all, I need some advise on my XT600,:helpsmilie:.
Badnews number one:A year agonow I was riding my XT600 home and the oil pump went then other stuff happened to the engine and lets just say she broke, so I brought an electric start engine and fitted it into my kick start frame and changed the loom to suit, (this engine I heard running when I brought it) however we have managed to get this engine turning over but not running for more than a couple of seconds.
Badnews number two: I have since learned that the new engines gear box is shall we say to put it nicely buggered............... I know I should have checked B4 I brought the lump, live and learn:(.

I am now left with a good gear box from my original kick start engine, and a good head etc from the second engine, a loom cut to suit an electric start, but all the parts to put back to kickstart,

My bike has been totally restored (looks brand new) powder coated frame, wheels these have also been rebuilt with stainless steel spokes, new bearings all round, new crush drive rubbers, swing arm, yokes, forks these have been rebuilt with new seals and taper headstock bearings etc. Some new body work and all painted. She has also had (yes there is more) New chain Sproket Cables Brakes Stainless allen bolts all round.


Badnews Number three: My boyfriend (who has been helping me with the XT) has just decided I am not the one for him. Leaving me is a dilema with the bike.

Do I sell as is?? How much would she fetch??

Do I get ir rebuilt?? Then sell?? what would she fetch then??

However I do also have a daily user bike and the xt is becoming a very expensive ornament.

Yes, keep the bike and take pleasure in rebuilding it, or find someone to help you,I think ktmmartin may like, or learn to like XT's! :kiss:

sadly you have to sell the bike as that has memories of your loser ex boyfriend....start again with a clean slate and nothing to remind you of your ex and time will heal everything......that and another fella will help.My ex flatmate use to say the only way to get over a boyfriend it to get under another......

Before I got married, I looked everywhere for a girl who likes bikes, no I don't mean just likes being on the back, but who likes riding bikes, real bikes, not them plastic things that whizz around on sunny sundays.

I agree with KTMmartin - find a new bloke, who likes bikes. Keep the bike and get it sorted.

if the bike is financially squeezing you, get rid of it. take the money, go for a holiday to decrease the bruise of your ex. safe a bit more and buy a new, modern bike which does not need that much money and time to fix.

Well, personally, I'd finish the bike slowly when I'd have the time and money to do it.. it could take me a week, a month, a year , two years, all the time needed but if you really like the bike.....you know... and try to keep the costs low!

That would make me feel much better.. by making a stand that will make you able to see that YOU DONT need that lame ex-bf for anything and you want and can finish the bike all by myself!

But If you do find yourself in a tight situation and need to cash... you know what to do...

I think the xt is goona have to find a new home, as much as I love her. Time, money, head is all in the wrong places to keep it now.:(
I do still have another bike which is on the road so its not all bad.
I wont sell to any old body and I don't want it to go to someone who is goona green lane her etc, she is in to good a condition for that, she really is quiet a bike when you see her in the flesh (so to speak), just need some TLC to get back to 100% :mchappy:.

Hey, when you put it that way.....I've got a bike which needs some work too. I could get it to London and provide you with another good deed opportunity.

Of course, it's in Colombia right now, so it might take a while to make the arrangements, but still......
