New Carb for '88-89 Tenere sought

Shopping for a new carb(s) for '88-89 Tenere 600. Anybody got one sitting in a box on a shelf for less than the price of a new motorcycle? :-) PM preferred with price details.

that's VERY wishful thinking :) R U sure it's not something that a full rebuild kit cant fix? last time i checked there were two carbs in an XT, not just one.

and seeing you contribute to CB, say hello to Gabe if he's still around

Having wishful dreams is good

Wont disagree - Plan # 1 is "wishful" dreaming, but one can not catch fish if they do not have their line in the water.

Rebuild kit is Plan # 2 -went that way 10 years ago. My mechanic suggested Plan # 1 would be nice, as he has worked on this motorbike for the last 12-15 years, and since the old carb(s) would be out, why not start with all new if there was one available at a reasonable price. There may be truth in the adage: "Ask and ye shall receive," well, maybe.

Last year it was new intake manifolds with new gas hoses. This year it was new petcocks. At a guessestimated 200,000 k's, I've been told to put the 30 year-old horse out of it's misery...like an old horse on the ranch. But with a few new parts, this old single cylinder work horse keeps on thumping.

And yep, it's a two stage carb. The idle one seems fine, but the running one is sick. I'm fishing for the combo, both units.

Thanks for your thoughts.

PS: Former Editor-in-Chief Gabe is off on other adventures, and the free monthly paper rag is RIP. CITY BIKE www.citybike.com lives on however, in the digital world, under the expert guidance of an enthusiastic Editor-in-Chief (Surj Gish) and those of us still aboard the high speed ship continue to "Ride Fast and Take Chances," a phrase coined by Editor Brian Halton years ago and carried onward by Editor's-in-Chief Gabe and now Surj.

"ride fast and take chances" is a good attitude which i stick to, shame that last year it ended up in broken tibia and fibula... oh well, it's welded back by now, Ti plate is soon coming out ;)

try KEDO, maybe he has some alternatives to the stock carb.
