new teneres for sale
 

hello all is it me or are there a lot of new teneres up for sale with very low milage are they not liked coz it seems that in just a few thou miles the true bike will not have shown it self.
i have seen one up for sale with just 400 miles on it is there a problem with them please reply as i am looking for one soon.
i am looking at a old tenere that i will rebuild or a new bike and cant make my mind up.
i keep thinking that stay with a tried and tested bike but whats the new bike like.

Spend lots of money on an old bike, its cheaper to travel with. but the new bike looks gorgeous and probably the one to take the marque forward.

I spoke to one guy selling one for £4800, and he wasnt happy with it for commuting as he was used to a smooth running twin, not something this twitchy, tall and in his opinion off-road biased, he wanted to go back to the creature comforts of a road bike.

I was seriously looking at this one but just cant justify it alongside my 21 year old model and a BMW touring bike. I got the impression that it really is a great world bike

i have been thinking about getting a old tenere and doing a rebuild on the engine bit of a paint up put some luggage on it and there you go.
to me there is to many of the new bikes up for sale that people are not happy with:thumbdown:

Alot of people who have bought the bike only looked at it and possilbly sat on it for 5 mins but never took it for a test ride due to yamaha taking so long to release the bike and then not making enough for demand.

The bike is quite tall as ive sat on one for a good 10 mins in my local yammy dealer and im 6ft4 and can get my feet flat on the ground nicely anything higher and it would be heels up type game.

Also alot of people who have bought the new tenere think its going to be slickly smooth, but its a big single and its never going to be the same as a v twin or in line 4 which is where most people have came from.

The most complaints or down sides ive heard is about the seat, its like your sat in a pod with a massive tank in front and a large humped up rear seat behind. This means you dont have as much room to move about as you maybe would like. But there are quite a few people who have got the seat either recut to a different shape, added an airhawk or added a gel pad. Not the end of the world but if your doing high milage its just not nice having a sore bum;

Take a test ride on one and see what you think about it, if you really want it then you can buy a second hand one for a few ££££ cheaper if not rebuild your old tenere and away you go.:scooter:
