Newby Horn Question.
Greetings to all.
I've finally returned to bikes after a 6 year RTA enforced layoff. I can't get the old knees around a sports bike so have bitten the bullet and got a 1999 XT600E. I'm really enjoying being on a big single again, having had an XBR500 many moons ago. (I know one of you has one). The only thing that I'm really annoyed with is the horn. Is there a more manly alternative that would suit the rugged nature of this beasty? Thanx. |

That looks more than enough to do the job properly.
Thanx Mezo. Anyone in the UK know of a reputable supplier? |
I can vouch for these:
Horn Hi-Lo tone Stebel Magnum 139dB pair. Be Safe Be Heard.TM802 MAG12 H+L | eBay I got one on my XT600E! Vando beer |
I just bought a slightly bigger and louder horn from the local autoparts-store. They had both deep and hi-tone ones. Direct swap, so easy to install, and only cost a few quid.

+1 on the Stebel Magnum. I only got one (can't remember whether high or low) but it's good and loud, and an easy swap with the original tinny rubbish. The only problem is that the plastic surround has started to crack and fall off after only 12 months or so. I haven't hit it, so it's either the vibration or UV. Not had one, but I am told that the Stebel Nautilus is awesomely loud. People think there is an 18-wheeler somewhere :)
Both available in Halfords. |

They make a louder one, but that one sounds better (nicer tone). Mezo. |
