Hi Guys,

I got this great XT 600, I had never driven a dual porpuse bike...I've had sport bikes....is it thru that I have to rev the engine always at high rpms....cause at low rpm does poorly ?, I understand to certain point though
Thank you a lot,

Ivan

Engines with high miles usually have piston slap at low rpm. Especially big singles. That is why the newer ones have off set piston pins to reduce piston thrust wear that makes the cylinder into a oval shape over time. It could also be bad low end bearings , but I have not heard of this being an issue on XTs THUMPTHUMP

If it may be coming from the right side, there have been crank nuts that came loose and will make a racket.

Which rpm's are you riding at, in what gear?

I guess what you are talking about is a 'lumpy' feeling when riding below 3,000rpm.

You are riding a single which is different to a multi cylinder sports bike.

Remember that the number of 'ignitions' on a single are far less than on a multi and that is the story.

I have owned a number of Ducati V-twins which needed to be kept in a higher rev band to remain 'smooth''.

I have an ST1300 with a V4 engine. Pulls smoothly from very low revs.

This is one of the features of an XT600 single. I believe it is called 'character'.

Enjoy!
