Oil Leak 1993 XT 600e

Well crap, just did the base gasket, rings etc this weekend.
Thought the oil spewing on my boot was from the base gasket leaking.
The original cylinder o ring was spit on disassembly.
Thought that was it, not the case.
Still spewing oil just like before.
Ideas??
Thanks

Well maybe try to explain a little better about this, where you have oil and how much, pictures etc..

Initially just put some JB weld and quicksteel on the right side base of the jug.
Helped for a while then leak got worse.
Replaced the bottom oil line, no go, still leaking.
Hoping it's not a cracked case. Leak seems to be in the front base gasket area again.

Oil coming out on idle or just when riding?

Provick 5 Dec 2016 18:11

Both.
Will look at a schematic to see if a plugged vent line could cause this.
Appreciate any assistance.

ok, if you clean everthing up and put it on idle you still cant see where its coming from?Recomend using a good LED flaslight around where you think leak coming from. Use some mask tape on places you think its coming from and you will see if its correct.

Can you post a picture of what's happening?

I once forgot to put one of the bolts on the LHS engine case and had oil all over the place..
It was one bolt behind the e-starter idle gear (the gear that is behind the little LHS cover) and the oil was coming out from there..

Sounds like my trouble today. Mainshaft oil seal has blown.

Easy fix dont worrybeer Remember to check breather hose before you change it, can be a result of pressure building up.
