oil temp gauge
Hi
Can anyone tell me, is it feasible to fit an oil temp gauge to an XT 55W model. If so, how? Thanks David |
Hi David,
There is a German manufacturer, RR, who produce replacement oil caps (to the oil tank on the Tenere), which has a tempurature guage in the head of the cap. Obviously this has the disadvantage that it is not visable while riding, and on my Tenere you have to take off the side cover to view it. I actually have two - I bought one first incorrectly which is for an earlier model and has an internal thread (like a stopper cap), and later I bought the correct one for my 3AJ which has an outer thread (like a milk carton cap). The one for the older model is new/unused, and I was going to put it up on Ebay one day. If you are interested, I can take some photos and send to you - also you can see what they are like in the Wunderlich catelogue. Ciao, Geoff |
Thanks Geoff.
I would certainly be interested in seeing it. If you send any pics. etc straight to me at tenere@davidcollyer.com that would be great. Thanks Dave |
I used an 'RR' gauge on my R100gs and found it to be a very accurate and well made piece of kit.

I have a handlebar mounted oil temp gauge bought from Kedo (www.kedo.de). The temp sender is in the sump plug and you just run a wire up to the handlebars. Works very well and looks well-made.
Don't do what I did and run the 'power' wire for the gauge from you indicators, as you get severe temperature spikes whenever turning left or right! ------------------ Barry 3AJ Tenere |
