Question about new head assembly.
 

If i buy new head assembly for my 93mod xt, would it be ok to test only the head cover on, or can it do some harm to the new head cover? Would make it all easier, and if i change everything is it recomended to change the valves at the same time? its like 150dollars, so this is getting expensive fast..And when i already have it open i can take of cylinder and change piston too..

You can test a new cover on your old head by taking a shaft about .010" smaller than the camshaft and the same length, then put plastigauge strips in each section of the bore, then tighten it down. The plastiguge will tell you if the bores are off and how much clearances it'll have with the cam in it. That will at least let you know if it'll work before tearing the rest apart. There should be something similar over there.
