Raptor 660 carburetor + stock paper air filter in XT600
Someone use Raptor 660 carburetor in XT600 with stock paper air filter? (Hiflo Filtro HFA 4608)
|
There shouldn't be any issue with that, why would you think there might be?
FWIW - I ALWAYS switch to a foam filter, Uni or TwinAir. Paper filters get expensive over the years, and foam filters can be cleaned again and again. My 1986 R80G/S we rode around the world has the "original" foam filter I installed from new, and it's still good. |
I'm afraid I can't get enough air in the bigger carburetor
|
How much bigger is it? A couple of mm, no big deal.

good luck with engine life running without air filters..... amazing dude :)
from my experience, CV carbs work much better with an airbox, see how it wants to die at 1:57?...typical of CV without airbox. if he had crappy carbs before, no wonder that he thinks its heaven now... nicko, dont believe everything you see in you tube :) |

how many kilometers in these 5 years?
the problem is when you ride, not when you are parked, especially in crete where it is dry, you have a lot of dust in the air and the engine simply sucks it up. the first place to check wear is the piston rings GAP.... not the cylinder wall :) also, the dust in the air is very fine, will not make scratches in the wall, but it slowly acts as good fine sanding paper, no wonder your cylinder "looks like new" :) I dont believe that what i am saying will make you change your mind and run an airbox and filter, but so just that you know there is no free lunch, airboxes and air filters exists for a reason.... ;) |

find someone who is good with 3D CAD software to design for you a manifold that connects the two exits from the airbox to the single entry into the carb and then send file to 3D printing with nylon material.
I produced quite a lot of intake part this way for my latest racer project. actually i built a complete airbox with 3D print parts, and also the internal bell mouths, all the grey parts you see are 3D print |

I am an industrial designer and work with CREO, but SW is just as good to do it.
I needed to build a complete airbox that didnt exist, for you its more like to find a way to connect carb to the original airbox, hope you still have it, if not, get one... in any case, best tip is to first build a carton or foam mockup piece that is easy to make and correct. once you have the basic dimensions, you can build in CAD and send to print. in italy i use weerg.com |
