Thanks for replies to date. Iwondered about different oil. I can't believe I need a new chain,but if it's pretty easy to do I'll look at it.

My 600E does the same and its only 3 years old with 8K

Driving me nuts too. Its expecially when cold and doesnt dissapear until i hit 4000rpm.

My valves are spot on but still rattles. Im not going to push my tensioner out as this WILL cause premature stretch and guide wear.

I think this is just nature of the beast now as so many do it. Maybe its just when the selecter is inbetween clicks.. Perhaps a ever so slightly stiffer string is required. hmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I did think about the rev drive on the camshaft but cant see how it would knock.
