Rear shock too close?? Fiberglass airbox and rear "under-tail"w/battery tray...HELP
Hey guys!
I've been scratching my head for a few days now and I still haven't been able to fabricate a good enough airbox and undertail for my XT600 setup... The first few attempts were a disaster... I think it's the type of resin.. it just won't dry completely! It's always tacky plus it all just wasn't good enough... So, I'm going in a different way this time.. here are some pictures... http://img197.imageshack.us/img197/6...02953zo.th.jpg http://img837.imageshack.us/img837/6...c02954f.th.jpg http://img543.imageshack.us/img543/226/dsc02955f.th.jpg http://img197.imageshack.us/img197/2...c02956f.th.jpg This is a picture from before... http://img710.imageshack.us/img710/8...02942ke.th.jpg Now: 1 - with the bike on the sidestand I got 21cm of clearance between the battery tray and the rear tire. 2 - with the bike standing upright I got 16.5cm of clearance. 3 - with me pushing down with my whole weight on the end of the frame I get about 9.5cm of clearance (with gear 120kg) Should I go in a different way with the battery tray as it will give me about 10 cm more clearance and just make a small box to fit it behind the left handside plastic fairing (where it originally fits)???? Tomorrow morning I'm gonna buy some different resin and hardener and try it... |
It will have a fiberglass "sheet" mated with the rear black licenseplate holder beneath the battery and the airbox so it looks as one piece!
