Rear wheel bearing xt600e
Hi all!
I noticed some twitchy behaviour in the handling of my bike in the last few weeks. Managed to get it jacked up and checked it over on sunday and discovered a bit if play in the rear wheel (side to side) which I`m thinking is down to the rear wheel bearings. Had a look through the forum and cant find any advice on replacing them. Any body got any handy hints or tips on replacing them? I`ve got a replacement kit (wemoto) ready to go in and looking at the weather today I`d really like it to be a straight forward, no piss balling around job if at all possible! Thanks Bill |
No problems doing that, take of wheel and tap out old and replace the new..
|
Well that sounds easy enough! Ill give it a go. Thanks!

A fairly simple job. Just take care to tap around the outer rim of the bearing when putting the new ones in. You will ding the cage and balls if you hit the centre.

Just a quick update ! Managed to get the old bearings out without too much trouble and replace (without hitting the inner bearing at all)- I had read about this but thanks anyway for the tip jjrider :thumbup1:
Only disappointing thing was that one of the new dust seals was too big ! 44mm outside diameter instead of the one it was replacing which was 40mm. A new one is on its way to me, but this post is just to make people aware of the different size. The guy from Wemoto says they've sold hundreds of this bearing kit with no problems, and it is marked suitable for xt600e 99-03. The hub on mine looks to be original, so I was wondering if anyone else has had or heard of this issue? Cheers Bill P.s. Some little thieving scrote came close to having it away with my xt in the night! Disc lock stopped them and the steering lock has been strained quite badly but managed to hold luckily! |
Sorry meant Thanks Bandit127 !:thumbup1:
