reg rec req...
Anyone know which reg recs are interchangeable with my one from an xt 600 tenere 1vj.....just melted my battery.....ebay have crazy prices?...all help welcome...:thumbup1:
|
I found this on ebay.
YAMAHA TZR 125 95 4HW REGULATOR / RECTIFIER | eBay 2nd hand but it should work. If you want new, the price of a call to the stealer might give you a nice surprise... Edit - also found a list with other bikes that use the same one. http://www.samsonelectricalparts.com...r-smr-31-d9a1/ |
Usually what melts your battery is the a bad stator which causes Reg/rec failure and subsequently a cooked battery!
|
Hmmmn....its done over a thousand kms after a rebuild of thge original engine....output from stator was ok.....thought the regrec sorted the output to the battery by dissipating any excess current to heat....I ll check the out put from the stator but I,m sure it was ok from memory...
|
Reg/rec's are much more vulnerable than the stator.
Id go for the reg/rec, mine went bad because of a corroded connetor. |
Did you fix the jetting issue then?
|
No,,,spoke to a mechanic and he said I should replace the needle and jet but that's a couple of hundred bucks,,,,,I,m back in the uk in a week so will see what I can find when I,m there,

Just sayin'....... might save you a couple of hundred bucks...... |
Whats up with the jetting/carb?
I agreee with docsherlock: Not a common problem, and when/if thing wear, the carb gets a little ritcher, which should be much of a problem anyway. |
I was getting alot of backfire on deceleration, and a bit of a flat spot in the middle and difficult starting....wont start on choke but if I blip the throttle it will start then I pull the choke out to keep it running....

See my previous post regarding jetting to sort it. |
Indeed it is a lean condition.. to be precise you should either increase your PILOT jet.. the easiest solution is for you to do right now is to use to turn out the fuel screw half turn at a time.
Also, the fact that you say you need to turn twist the throttle is usually fixed by turn in the knob on the LHS of the carb to increase the tickover RPM. It is most likely set too low! Vando ;) |

Or get an FI'd bike. |
Xt600 is jetted rich from the factory, atleast my 4pt/dj021/2003 model was, and didnt need rejetting with the tip if the exhaust removed, airbox-lid removed, and aftermarked airfilter installed.
