replacement carburetor for a yamaha xt 600 e 2002

hi chaps
i'm in need of a bit of help
i bought a 2002 xt 600 e non runner
needed a couple new bits like a new battery new tires that sort of thing
now the previous owner said and was honest about it that it will run very rough becouse the carburetor is busted beyond all repairs i even tried messing with the settings but as he said it wouldnt help

now a brand new carb would cost a insane amount of money and my question is can i get any xt 600 carb to do the job?
or is the carb model year related?

all help is apreciated

Does yours have 2 or just one carbs? In the Us most had 2 and other than leaner jetting on the newer models, they could be used. Don't know what the UK had, but if it's one carb, a carb off any other single carb XT will work.

Exactly how is the original carb wrecked beyond repair, never heard of such a thing.

the previous owner took it to the sahara where it got very dirty
he cleaned it with a unknown chemical that screwed up the tiny channels inside the carb many have tried to fix it wich was the point where he just gave up and let it sit for 4 years

otherwise its great
and it's the 2 carbed one

Hi SnakeAroundTheWorld

I have a good used carb off my own XT600. Stock factory jetting, perfectly good running carb. I replaced it with a Raptor 660 carburettor so it's of no use for me now...

Where are you from?
