Scottoiler vs. ?
Hi guys.
Im thinking about installing a chain luber on the Tenere. Scottoiler comes to mind straight away since I have that one on my T.Ace and have been pleased with it´s function and reliability. But are there any other systems out there worth looking at? cheers. Tom |
vs. Loobman
There's been quite a bit of discussion here:

SCOTTOILER 9,000+ miles and not had to touch the chain at all.

I think you answered half of your question there, the reason scottoiler comes to mind first is cause they are probably the best for oiling your chain.
Depending on what type of use you use your bike for depends on if you want one, but if you are travelling mostly on roads (no sand or grit) then the scott oiler is the one. I need to get one for my XT660R but havent got the time to get it yet and install it, so for me it is out with the manual chain luber at the moment. |
After reading up on the old treads I can see that this is a subject with a never ending deabate:cool4:
The scottoiler on my T.Ace has done a good job,had it installed when the bike was new and the only thing I noticed with it is an occasional air lock. But as mentioned before, cruiseing down the highway is a totaly diffrent story. For the sake of keeping things simple on the XT Im accualy leaning towards geting one of these Loobman things. I allso found this Osco-chainoiler.Any one had any experience with that? Seems to me that it´s an expencive version of Loobman. You have to manualy pull a lever to send a dosage of oil out the hose. Ketting smeren in één seconde met de OSCO!# |
I purchased a LoobMan oiler, but have not yet installed it as I came across this thread talking about using teflon lubes instead and bought a can to try out: Teflon Chain Lube
Not sure how available this is outside of the USA, but worth a look. |
worth a try
