Seat cover.

Is it possible to find same fabric as original seat cover, yamaha use a superthin material with high strenght. I know they sell aftermarked seatcover but they are not like original and you get extra seam in front. Mine is 93mod XT 600 blue seat.

I am getting one from here to try, Yamaha XT600 1984 1989 43F Seat Cover w Strap Ytrot | eBay , there is another place , I think Vintage Cycle or something like that that also has one.

I can't suggest getting one from Lambeth , I have four worthless covers that although made from good material, can't possibly fit any worse. Maybe if I add an inch or 2 foam in the front upturn all the extra material would actually get tight, otherwise they look like shit at best. Even if I have to buy a new cover every year it'll be worth it.

Hi there !

I bought and fitted a seat cover from dave Lambeth and I have to say although the top section of material wasn't the same type or colour as original it was a great fit. My bike is a 2003 model so the seats are slightly different in shape to the earlier models maybe this is a factor?

Your also on an Eurpopean bike. From what it looks like the fabric is cut for a different seat, even though it specs for 3EW(US version). Something tells me he never tried them on one of our bikes, just assuming they were the same, and I paid for it, big time.

Yeah i bought one from that lambert and never monted it because of not the same colour and looks like it wouldnt fit very well...

I think this is a good fit, wrong grey and type of fabric as I said, but what do others think?

This looks good on the bike, its not for 93mod.

Mind you I was stuck for a supplier until dave Lambeth made one for this model, couldn't find anyone else who made them. So I had no choice really!:biggrin3:

If mine fit like that I'd have no complaints either. Unfortunately they won't. The color is just my camera doing what it does best, turn reds into everything but red. This is the best we had gotten, by pulling the front around it just leaves a 2 inch gap down in the bottom and still full of wrinkles. They are too short.

Aren't there some differences in bikes across the continents. Seats are not all the same. Sending a picture of your bike helps. I had a seat cover made (not an XT) in the UK but cannot remember the guys name, could probably get it again if someone wanted it. He knows all the various seats designs and can use a pic to verify it.

I dont understand why its so hard to find the same material as they use original, you can stretch it on with no problem and in one piece.

jjrider 3 Jun 2014 02:13

I'd bet it is pricey these days so they go with vinyl . Several aftermarket atv companies use some of the good stuff.

I think Lambeth didn't bother to check if our seats were different, he just went with the European seat and figured good enough. You can see the covers are too short. I've gotten no reply from him about it either after emailing him about it, great customer service.

It was my very first time putting a seat cover on and it was very easy as long as you got a good stapler!

Would you know for sure that they would fit the US seats? I'm looking to try one of yours .

nickargas 20 Jul 2014 07:38

After I crashed I had my seat redone by a local carpenter specialized in just leather seats... I was missing a fist size chunk from my foam and he restored that too... I've asked him if he had a non slippery waterproof leather like textile and he said yeah... I don't like the sewing on the side of the seat so asked him not to do any.. he did all that for 15 euros... I'm sure that carpenters like him are somewhere in your city too... ask around because 42 euros without shipping for a seat cover is just too much for my wallet...
