Shocking MOT
Hi all, my 1vj has just failed it's mot on the rear shock....:(
I've checked out some prices for replacments on the web and it's not good....Hagon 289quid, Olhins i dont even want to repeat the price. I could buy secondhand ones all day long on fleabay but chances are they won't be any better than what i already have......... Anyone got any good idea's? i.e a decent shock for a decent price..... Any help would be really appreciated.....Cheers |
Get the existing shock rebuilt, cheaper than a new one.

Ive only ever had one bike fail on shock absorbers an old two stroke twin shock road bike, but i'd noticed it seemed to handle kinda funny when you were going over the white lines passing cars in traffic jams, after replacement shocks it was fine. |
I have a very good rear shox from my TTR600RE - if its any good for your model.
The bike has only done 4000 miles - all on road. PM me if interested. |
just to avoid hassles, TTRE and XT have different length and the LOWER link is different (uniball on XT fork on TTRE)

Cheers for the info Cyberzar:thumbup1:
Sorry Ty8ight :( |
Recondition
All Bike Engineering (London) will recondition your shock & guarantee it for a year.
Haven't used this service myself, but know the guys and they've been very helpful sorting out other bits. I think prices start from around £80 - depending on what exactly is wrong with your shock. Give them a call on Tel: +044 (0)208 858 9052  Do me a HUGE favour and tell the guys you were referred by an XT Girl. I tried to make them promise they would offer a discount - not sure it worked, but at worst you will get a laugh! |
Thanks everyone for your suggestions....still working out the best way to go with it.
Gonna give All Bike Engineering a ring tomorrow see what they've go to say (thanks XT Girl) I'll keep you all posted on the eventual outcome..... Hey Panzer - yes, it was starting to feel like i was riding with a flat rear tyre....... Cheers Steve |
