Shorty wants to know if XT is a good idea
I have 30" legs is it viable to get an XT? What mods can I make to ensure I can reach the ground when on it?
|
I'm a raging 5 foot 7 and I just got an XT. My tiptoes touch and this is enough, though my shoes are big. This is a smooth easy to handle bike.
|
Yep, I'm 5'8" with 30" legs. I can get the
ball of my foot down. This is fine on the road, the only time I have any problems is off road, difficult trails sometimes need "paddleing" Don't let this put you off, the good things about the XT far out weigh the bad. Regards B. |
Much appreciated

if my calculation is right, 30" is 0.762 m, isn`t it ;-) ?
xt600 starting from 1990 have less seat-height due to shorter suspension and smaller rear wheel. what you can do in addition is: 1) push the front fork a bit up, this will reduce some cm (maybe 1...2") 2) you can use a different seat with thinner foam (available in germany: www.kedo.com or www.wunderlich.de, or second-hand 3) adjust the rear suspension by lowering the pre-tension of the spring 4) expensive: mount different relais-arms for the rear suspension this should do! bye mailto:klaus@xt600.de +++ 18.-20. Another possibility : italian shock maker Bitubo makes monoshock with adjustable lenght - normally from normal to increased height, but on demand also from normal to decreased height ! in this way you may gain 2 or 3 cms ...but with the possibility of return to standard !
http://www.bitubo.com PS. they still have models for old XT ...even 500 and 550 ! i'm not connected with them ..only tried and satisfied. |
