sprag clutch play
 

So rebuilt the engine but when it comes to putting the rotor on i have about 5 mm plat on the sprag gear which is driven by the starter reduction gears......I have the big washer ,bearings and sprag assy fitted and according to the parts book all is there,anyone know if this is normal or should there be something else fitted.....cheers

Ok....no reply so will ask does anyone know the thickness of the spacer that goes between the sprag gear and bearings....

Just spoke to christchurches friendly yamaha dealer Trevor Pierce and he told me the large amount of play by the sprag clutch is normal so I can carry on and finish my rebuild on receipt of the starter gears on their way from the usa....cheers mate....
