Sprocket
Just replaced the chain and sprockets, and noticed that it seems like the front sprocket is too close to the engine, because the chain ate about 1 mm. off the side of the teeth on the engine side. Anyone knows this? Is it as simple as putting a distance wasger behind the sprocket? Or is something else wrong? Btw it's a 1992 XTZ660 and I always use original Yammie chain kit with endless chain.

Hi Fred
I also changed my chain and sprockets this weekend. I also noticed some wear on the inside of the front sprocket only. It was not as much as you had - perhaps only 0.1 - 0.2mm , but it was evident. The sprockets I had been using were pattern ones. I don't know what has caused this.? The chain (a DID x-ring) had done 13,000 miles. [This message has been edited by Ralph (edited 11 May 2003).] |
