Stalls when idling
Hi,
I have a 1994 Belgarda TT600 S which has the same engine and carb as the XT. I have never had it running properly as it is a recent purchase. I kick it off and it idles for approximately 30 seconds and then it cuts out and is hard to start again for the next minute or so. I have checked and cleaned all the jets and the carb in general inc the float needle and diaphragms. I have also adjusted the float level so it allows in more fuel. I have reset the air mixture screw and tappets to factory settings. I am stumped as to what is causing this. I assume it is getting starved of fuel but I am unsure what can be causing this having tried and adjusted all the above. I will be so appreciative of any advice or suggestions you can give. Thank you. Roya |
sounds like fuel supply
remove the drain screw at the bottom of the carb bowl, open the tap and check if fuel flows out freely. if you have a vacuum fuel tap, youll have to suck from the vacuum tube with a syringe to activate the tap. changing the float level is a wrong move, download the manual and set it back to the recommended height. and post a pic of your TT, love their look more than XT's.... and your bike was made just a few miles frםm where i live :) |
Thank you for your help.
The bike is in bits at the moment but Ill send a pic when i try what you suggested at weekend. Thank you. |
