starter motor oil leak ??
hi again after further investigation the oil leak that appears after about 30miles if driving seams to come from behind the starter motor and runs down onto the top of the crankcase , then falls onto the sproket/chain. if i stuff a cloth /spomge under th motor this stops the leak and the bike stays dry! never had the starter out is there a seal or "O" rings had a look on the parts diag etc ,and nothing jumps out ? is this common. yes there is an O ring on the starter where it goes into the slot in the case, if you have headers that wont come off like most of us have or had its a biggish job getting the starter out but can be done as it comes out of the header side, you will need to detach carbs and tie them up out of the way first, whilst you are in there there are two hoses between starter and block, check them also as one especially can go hard and split in time with heat from block, as its a breather and any oil in that may have the same symptoms

fixed
hi purchased a new O Ring and paper gasket for the small cover and a new circlip from fowlers ,,very quick sevice BTW. headers came off easy as its a devil stainlss with brass nuts and springs. only prob is my hands are toooo BIG! the seal looked fine, but all back together and did 200 miles bone dry happy days.thanks . strange that it leaks. its high up ,isnt direct fed , and the seal is static ,,,ie no wear ,but its fixed now::thumbup1:
