STARTING A REBUILT ENGINE

HI All, finally got my 3aj all back together again(no bits left over either!) whats the best way to ensure she,s getting plenty of oil before i fire her into life? can these engines airlock? any answers greatly appreciated thanks T.

remove the spark plug and remove one of the exhaust valve covers, spin the engine over untill you can see plenty of oil inside the cam cover, then check the oil level in the tank.

Sorry not too useful for this time....but for next time; coating moving parts with Graphogen or moly grease during the rebuild does a good job until the oil is up and running.

as long as you put some oil on your bearings mainly the big end bearing then there should'nt be a problem, if you have'nt then like the other guy said, take off your valve cover and turn over till you see oil as the cam shafts the last place the oil will reach in the engine.

by the way. you dont happen to know where i can get hold of some second had gears and a oil pump for an 89 tenere or any pre 90 xt.
if you do please drop me a line.
good luck!!
