stator reading

Got my self a spare stator. Been checking it with multimeter and I`m getting a reading from all 3 phases of 1.2ohms. According to the service manual it should be 0.5 to 0.78.


The service manual is for a 1990 model and my bike is a 2003 model. Is this likely to be the reason for the difference in figures?

Different stators will have different resistance. My 1995 3TB stator measures 1.2 ,if it's the same unit you'll get the same.

Thanks for the reply. I was hoping that because i was getting the same values from all 3 wires everything was okay. As yours is closer in age to mine its reassuring to know that youre getting the same readings. As its a spare anyway i will check the one on the bike and see what they are as well.

The key thing is that all are the same, Usually when one is bad there will be variances from wire to wire.

Then hopefully its okay. I thought i had read somewhere. If theyre all showing the same its working. Thanks for the help jjrider!
