Super Ten forks On an XT600?
Hi,
Just had a thought, (rare) Does anybody know if super ten forks or whole front end will fit on an 86 IVJ? Fork diameters seem like the sort of thing yamaha wouldn't change. Any thoughts on this mod? I'm thinking probably better suspension for a travel prepped tenere as the Super ten is a heavier bike to start with. Also I like the idea of twin discs! |
downside to that is the S10 brakes are useless on anything other than gravel, and really difficult to get spares of :confused1:
|
Surely thay are an improvement on the XT's single disc? I had a S10 with braided hoses and thought the brakes were good, perhaps I have low braking standards?
Any thoughts on headstock, dimensions etc? |
Hi Alfow,
Snap - I have been wondering about this change too, but not progressed it too far yet. I will drop you a PM, but I don't think I can answer your questions. It would be good to see some knowledgable postings. From what I have heard, "toneski" is right about the calipers and spares being difficult to get hold of. Ciao, Geoff |
I have seen pictures of an XT 600 with a TDM front end with twin discs.
The guy had done alot of work to the bike including twin exhausts it was painted in Camel colours. The guy had a few pictures and some info about his bike but I cant rember where I saw it. Does any one have a link to the site with this bike. ( I think it was on a super Tenere owners club site even though it was a XT 600) and the guy was in the north of England. |
If it's the same bike i'm thinking of it was on ebay maybe 6 months ago, highly modified, lots of shiny bits. Think he had a white one too. I'll try and find it on the web, maybe I can get in touch with him for more info. Cheers

Wonders of the internet
As if by magic,
:: TEST IN BROWSER - - TEST IN BROWSER :: I've e-mailed the guy asking him what he used and what was involved in the swap. If or when I get a reply i'll post it up here. |
