Tank Panels
I`m about to have the second of those stupid "air-intake" tank panels replaced under warranty,do they regularly shake to pieces or have I just been un-lucky?,the right-hand one went withing 200 miles but replacement seems fine 5000 miles later, now the left hand has come "un-rivetted" and is being changed by the dealer. If the bike wasn`t under warranty I`d just Superglue them back together. If they really must put this kind of thing on an otherwise functional bike why cant they mould them out of a single piece of something similar to what tupperware is made of so they at least stay in one piece?

Do they actually have a function these plastic bits? They have been ok on my bike so far - almost 3000 miles - but I can't really see the point in them being there. Do they help feed air into the air intake, must admit I haven't looked too closely.

they are fragile too, they break easily in a spill.
no, the intake is under the seat,on a liquid cooled bike they would protect the radiator, but on ours they are just there for "show". i made new ones because i couldnt believe how much yamaha wanted for a new pair! ------------------ dave |
