Tenere 1vj electrics!!
 

Due to poor starting on the starter and battery running flat,took battery off and charged it!Anyway mate come round and said he help(mistake) and he put battery on while i made a cuppa!When back the idiot put terminals on wrong way and tried to start it!!He said he heard a click behind battery(its a 1vj model)and nothing!!Cut the story short,got new yusa battery and nothing,no lights,no ignition!!Blown fuse??Where is it placed??Any ideas??Iam not a mechanic so please bear with me!!:censored:

First thing to do is put the battery on the right way ;)

Clicks are the starter relay.

I think you have blown fuses here. Fuse boxes are usually simple to find. Not sure on your model though.

Lol yeah I did ted,my idiot mate was sent home!! I dont know where the fuse are either,any ideas??

From memory, although I havn't looked at my IVJ for a while the fuses are located either behind the left hand side cover by the tool compartment or under the seat somewhere. As said before usually easy to find, near the relays and ignition box etc. Good luck

Just follow the thinner red wire from the battery, fuse is in a small plastic box, usually just behind the battery.

Lol,iam not that stupid ted!!I ment circuit breaker switch!!

I had a stupid kill switch problem last year. I never use it but somehow I must've bumped it to "off." Kicked the starter a hundred times or so, then rolled down some hills to try to start. After laborously pushing back up the hills, about to write it off as dead, I discovered the switch.

Do you guys ever use the kill switch? I'm not sure it would be second nature for me to use it in an emergency.

Nope, never use it. I will occasionally when its parked up somewhere.

Its good to have though. Its rarely but sometimes very useful.

My mates life was saved by it, his throttle grip got stuck open (his own fault, bad work) and he had to use it to kill the engine.

When a river crossing gets too deep you should kill the engine asap before you flood the engine with water.

Its just a lot quicker than fumbling round with keys, especially if your dash is a cluttered with cables and gps units etc.

etc etc etc !!
