TENERE 83-85 or 86-87 ???
 

hallo!

next month i'm going to buy my first motorcycle.
I decided that it will be a Yamaha XT600 Tenere but i'm not sure which model year to chose...
I have heard that tenere 86-87 had some
engine overheating problems, is that true???
What are other advantages and disadvantages of teneres 83-85 and 86-86???
I need motorbike for travelling around mauitania with my friend on TT600R.
what do you think about these motorbike???
is it a good companion for such a trip???

Yes, maybe, but cooling problems isn't the only problem...
Because of electric starter 86-87s are off course more comfortable, but also about 15 kg heavier, and have smaller tank. 5 more litres (in 83-85) means about 100 another kms. I think that 83-85 are more suitable for desert use, but I'm also interested in opinion of other Tenere users...
