Many thanks for the previous advice,

I am now modifying my oil pump, air box, and mudguard!

Other problems I have were regarding running in extreme wet weather. I find a misfire starts and then I my engine dies and refuses to start. I am currently replacing my coil, CDI unit, and regulator/rectifier. As a part of this I will be checking all my wiring loom and resoldering all dodgy connections.

Does anyone have any tips regarding other points similar to the overheating problem? (Klaus! ;-)). What about the spark plug cap etc.

do not solder cable connectors.
wires intend to break at the soldering point.
crimping is much better (but needs special crimp plier).
use shrinking tube for isolation/reinforcement of cables.
treat every connector with battery pole grease.
