Time for a valve job?

Hallo sir's.

So, this sommer i bought a xt 600 03. 24000km.:scooter:
It runs and starts good.

I was doing a little services and one thing went to another.
I took the carbs off, to clean them and notice that the intake valve on the right hand side, secondary carb, was kind of dirty.

Compared to the lefthand, primari carb valve.

I can't deside if this is sign of a leaky valve or just olie from the airbox junking up on the valve pind.
When i took the airbox apart there was quite a bit of oile the airbox. Most of it, in the righthand side.

What does the gure's think.
Shoud i take the top off and relap the valves.:helpsmilie:

Best regarts.

24K doesnt justify a valve job, specially if bike runs well

What is the color of the plug? is it black with oil? Does the engine smoke after it's really warm?

most likely it's the valve seal at the top of the guide, but even then not worth messing with.

The primary carb works a bit more, so the that valve gets a bit more washed with gasoline, so its cleaner.

Some oil in the airbox is normal but check your oil consumption in Liters vs. Km.

Learn from the manual how to check the oil in an XT, it's a bit special procedure :)

The plug i light brow. No smoking. So no big alarm bells.

Regarding to the oil change procedure.
I read the instruktions after 3,2 liters of oildoh

i meant the procedure to check the oil LEVEL in the oil tank. you need to run the motor for some 10 minutes before checking if its right.

The right carb is usually a little dirtier than the left, so it makes good sence.
You can replace the mesh-screen type filter on the breatherhose, with a better one, which will help some.
