Tires for XT
Hi all!
I found this portuguese website that sell tires online... You have to put in the dimensions you want and it'll show you all the tires available with those sizes. Pneus Online - Venda online de pneus para carros, pneu automóvel e mota I found these road-oriented ones that I like: CONTI-TRAILATTACK 90/90 -21 54 S CONTI-TRAILATTACK 120/90 -17 64 S http://im9.cz/iR/importprodukt-orig/...39e6387f3e.jpg Note: image from another website |
For an XT6 these tyres here appear way too road orientated. If you like these perhaps you should be looking at fitting Metzeler Tourances instead?
Or get a more agricultural tyre which can be used in most terrains - I fittted Michelin SIRAC's to mine (70% road 30% light dry trails and stone tracks). For mud go for a proper road legal dirt knobbly (MT21). |
Been through (3) sets of these from IRC.....

Hi! Well I've had several brands and models of tires.
Have used Bridgestone (stocks on the XT), Michelin Siracs, Metzellers tourance, Shinko, Duro and so on and so on.. The best tire I had was in fact the Sirac for rear and Bridgestone(stock for the XT) but none of them could deliver more than 4000 Km on the rear while the front could go upto 11-12000 km with the insides showing up! These Contitrail attack I've been reading alot about them in several bike forums and it has been the longest lasting and best performing for my type of riding. And I need the longest lasting tires i can find... These will surely be the next tires on my list as I still have two good enough tires on my wheels.... If anyone wants to read more on them I suggest this: http://www.conti-online.com/generato...twinner_en.pdf Vando :cool4: |
It would be fantastic to have the option to buy those IRC GP1 tyres here in UK. BUT, as we like to constantly 'be ripped off' in this country I guess we just accept paying £70+ each 4000 miles or so. Personally I hate this situation. The motorcycle media constantly trumpet how 'cheap' transport it is compared to running a car.......uh huh- yea right. (Factor in chain&spkts every year as well..)
IRC/Bridgestone probably won't entertain importing the GP1 because of the hegemony of Trailwing brand - which incidently the 42 variant of is probably the shortest lifespan tyre I have used on my XT. The Avon Distanzia is by far the longest lived by the way. |
Ive got Distanzia's on my 1vj £120 a pair fitted and you can ride to the edge on tarmac
|
How many miles have you gotten out of the Distanzias before?
or are ya a first timer with the Distanzias? :P Vando :cool4: |
